The night before...
We are leaving tomorrow! So much hard work and planning. Hard to believe it's almost time to board the bus. Things change by the moment, but we've been very good at flowing smoothly around all obstacles.I hope to have students on the trip contribute to this blog to keep people posted on our trip to New Orleans. Here's a little bit of background from a fundraising letter we sent out:From March 11 - 15, students and faculty from Howard University School of Law will provide legal assistance to residents in New Orleans. Our work will span a wide spectrum of the law: helping the District Attorney's office and the New Orleans Public Defender; helping homeowners clear their title in order to receive federal recovery aid, and informing laborers of their rights, among other programs.Last year, 18 Howard Law students joined more than 250 undergrads and embarked on a life-changing journey to lend a hand to the devastated communities of Chalmette and New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward. Students helped remove debris and restore homes that had been ravaged by the storm. This year, over 70 law students and faculty will be the vanguard of an army of over 500 Howard University students descending on New Orleans this March. We'll post more as we can. Send us your good thoughts!
